30 minutes in february {airport layover}

I don’t like having to switch planes at connecting airports.  As much as I fly, I get airport anxiety, as it’s all out of my control.  I’m not only terrified the plane is going to crash, but on top of that I have to worry I won’t have enough time to make my connection and then all hell will break loose! haha — just kidding, sort of.  I normally fly non-stop from NYC but this month I made a special trip to Kansas City for a few photo sessions and had to connect in Atlanta, which is an enormous airport with many terminals all connected by a train.  When I landed in Atlanta, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my next flight was literally next to the gate I arrived at — that never happens and I was so happy as I literally had 30 minutes before that plane was taking off.  Perfect timing for a quick 30 minute iPhone photo grab 😉

We landed in Atlanta just as the sun was about to set, and the beautiful glow pierced the huge windows throughout the airport.  I got off the plane, checked the monitors to double check my gate, used the ladies’ room (I make it a rule never to use the airplane bathroom aka germ city), spotted a confused-looking young lady wearing a green face mask (of COURSE I stopped to take her photo), then boarded my flight and settled into my seat.

PS Does anyone else think it’s a bit strange that the lady with the green face boarded my flight to KANSAS?!  Do you think she was looking for Dorothy and her ruby slippers?

Psst!  Now that you’ve joined me catching my flight in Atlanta, go check out the very talented Sonia Epple’s 30 minutes all the way from Germany!

    I am so with you on the changing terminals. It is pure anxiety. I don’t mind they flying part but get stressed out knowing I have to change. The first time we visited Richard and I were flying home via different flights and when I heard I had to catch a train, I lost it and insisted that he change his flight. Only to find the train is in the airport. I had visions of Heathrow to Gatwick kind of set up. Suffice to say I have traveled through Altanta whenever I can – because I know the airport :). I love your last image of the rows of seats. The leading lines are just stunning. Nice that you got the cockpit – I did not think they allowed that anymore. Not sure on the green faced lady – perhaps she had a spa treatment and they forgot to wash off her face 🙂 Thanks for sharing your awesome iphone pics.
