30 minutes in july {mountfitchet castle: stansted, england}

Jul 26, 2013

This is my inaugural post as part of an ongoing series titled, “30 minutes.”  I’m participating in this project with an awesome group of photographers who are all going to take 30 minutes each month to take photographs on a particular theme, and then blog about the experience.

I decided that each month I’ll photograph for 30 minutes in a unique, touristy location.  I travel so often for work that this should make for some interesting “30 minute” projects 🙂

As I’m staying in the English countryside for a few weeks, I searched for the most bizarre touristy locale nearby.  Mountfitchet Castle!  As the website states, “Mountfitchet Castle is a unique open-air museum experience where the visitor can travel back in time over 900 years and truly witness life in a medieval Motte and Bailey castle.  Explore the Castle and roam through the Norman village hidden behind the castle walls, wander in and out of the many houses and view the scenes, smell the log fires burning and feel the ambience of a bygone lifestyle.”

I hope that by viewing these photos from 30 minutes at Mountfitchet Castle, you’ll be able to “travel back in time over 900 years” as well 😉

Psst!  Now that you’ve finished exploring Medieval England, go check out the next photographer in our group’s take on the “30 minutes” project! Stacey Markel Photography
