There are a few things you have to do at least once, as a New Yorker: Times Square on New Year’s Eve, stand in an obnoxiously long line to get the best cupcake (or macaroons/cronut/etc), go on a date to the top of the Empire State Building, fight your way through a sample sale in SoHo, and watch the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks on the Hudson River.
So when my good friend Ana told me that her fiance could get us tickets to the VIP Macy’s Party last minute, I raced out the door and onto the subway, ready to cross another iconic New York event off my list. I was so excited, in fact, that I completely forgot to bring my camera! Oops! But you know what they say — the best camera is the one you have with you, so I was thankful that my iPhone takes pretty decent photos, even in low light situations 🙂 Luckily Ana brought her little point and shoot, the Canon S90, which is pretty awesome because you can change it to full manual mode instead of automatic. I had fun for a few minutes playing around with the settings, but mostly I sat back on my blanket with my glass of champagne, watching the gorgeous fireworks up above. Cheers!
