This month for my 30 minutes project, I cheated a little. You see, my sweet and talented friend (and fellow 30 minutes member) Meagan Dwyer decided to take her kids into the city for a last minute trip last weekend and we decided to finally hang out! We both brought our cameras, determined to do our 30 minutes together, but a half an hour just wasn’t enough for us 😉 We had a perfect New York day and just had to document it all for you guys!
We began in Grand Central where their train from Westchester arrived! Caroline was a bit tired from the train ride and I don’t blame her one bit. She still had a smile on her face, lying on the floor up at the constellations in the train station.
We ventured out up 5th Avenue towards Central Park, and the kids just loved seeing the tall buildings and hustle and bustle of the crowds.
It’s so strange to think that payphones aren’t so common anymore… she had a blast playing around with this one!
The walk got to be a little too tiring, so we decided to hop in a cab the rest of the way 😉 The kids were overjoyed when we arrived in the park!
Yep — the famous bubble guy was out in full force, much to our delight 🙂
We hopped inside Bethesda Terrace for some calm and an opportunity to take photos inside.
Lovely Meagan and her adorable children!
The kids were super hungry for lunch, but they couldn’t resist the most amazing climbing tree…
And then the large rocks were calling their names…
And then the boat pond was too irresistible not to take a peek…
Of course the Alice in Wonderland statue just *had* to be climbed on…
Finally we settled down for a delicious Italian lunch. The kids loved their spaghetti and meatballs!
Michael requested we visit his “favorite place in the world” — the Met! (Just so happens to be one of my favorite places, too!)
The art was beautiful to look at, but soon it became clear which Dwyer kid appreciates fine art more 😉
And back to Grand Central to say goodbye… It was such a fun day and I can’t wait until the next time they visit 🙂
Psst! Now that you’ve seen my point of view from our terrific day together, go check out Meagan Dwyer’s photos from her viewpoint! It’ll be fun to see what things she captured in a similar way and what parts she photographed in a totally different take. I always love her photographs so I’m very excited!!
