Anyone who knows me, knows that I. love. babies. A lot. So a while ago I decided I wanted to try photographing them. But photographing newborns is not a simple task… there’s so much to learn about posing these sweet little humans, and taking care that they are happy and warm throughout the photo session. I read that some photographers decide to start photographing newborns, and don’t take the safety precautions needed in certain poses. I wanted to learn everything before I delved into newborn photography, so I sought out one of the most amazing mentors I could find! She just happens to live in Alabama! So I bought a plane ticket, and headed down south for a full day mentorship with the one and only Stephanie Fisher!
I really liked Stephanie from the moment I met her — she is just such a lovely southern lady who is passionate about her photography. She makes everything she does seem effortless, and had a smile on her face throughout our entire day! She and her wonderful assistant, Mandy, rounded up three adorable newborns for us to work with for the day. The babies were the perfect little models for me to learn with, and we had fun dressing them up with different hats and backgrounds. Stephanie was so generous with her knowledge, and I am more than happy that I flew down to Birmingham to learn from the best! Big thanks to her and Mandy for treating me to such a fun and productive day!
And without further ado, here are my very first newborn photographs! Hope you like them!
Unreal. Beautifully done.
Thanks, Chris!! Maybe one day I’ll be able to photograph a mini Kennedy?? 😉
